Kyoto-Pro Titan Kote Specifications

Extra-Protective Kote-Buton – Kote pads are constructed in the same way as Men-Buton. Dual protective layers of selected natural felts of differential density are combined to balance weight, density and impact management. Right hand Kote-Buton feature additional layers of padding material and shielding, offering added protection in this more exposed and more commonly impacted target.

Shock Absorbent Pitch Stitch – 3mm horizontal bands of stitching are applied with 4mm long stitches through the Kote-Buton, reducing compression of the Kote padding and increasing the absorption of shock at the point of impact. Reducing the distance between lines of stitching also increases the durability of the Futon and offers additional impact resistance.

Eguri Profile – ergonomically designed to encourage and enable correct hand position, the junction between the Kote-Buton and Kobushi is specially stitched to change the angle of the wrist so that the Kote shape perfectly matches the natural position and angle of the hand when gripping a Shinai.

Tanned Deer Leather Tenouchi-Gawa – soft and comfortable, deer leather is the preferred Kote palm materials for closeness of fit. With it’s inherent elasticity the palms stretch and mould to the shape of the hand and fingers perfectly with use.

Hybrid Atama Fill – with 50% natural deer wool and 50% synthetic wool this hybrid Atama stuffing was by far the top performer in our extensive testing. Deer fur, traditionally used on the highest quality Kote, has a hollow fibre structure which makes it an excellent shock absorber over this vulnerable area. Its limitation is its lifespan because the hollow structure is easily crushed with impacts over time, thinning the padding and reducing its effectiveness. Enter the hybrid fill. By mixing the traditional deer wool with denser modern synthetic fur at a 50:50 ratio, we have been able to maintain excellent shock absorption with subtly increased density, reducing pad compression over time through use.

Very nice pair of kote! I've been using these for the past year and a half, my main gripe with the kote is that if they don't dry properly in between trainings (my home is quite humid), the palms will wear out faster, but this is more on my part than on the quality of the product. Mine have already developed big holes in the palm of the left kote, but these were my ONLY pair of kote i used for the past year and i train 3 times per week.

I think I could have got alot more longevity out of them if I switched kote between trainings or if they dried up properly!

Overall the best pair of kote I've used yet!

Nine Circles Reply - Thank you Jasper! Yes, deer leather palms will wear quickly if they don't dry fully and naturally. Heat to dry them or using them without drying will cause much faster wear. With high frequency practice ideally two pairs of Kote are in use if possible to allow fully drying. If not possible using a passive drying element, like an activated charcoal boot dryer, can help to dry the Kote without causing damage to the leather by force drying.

Great quality and superb feeling. The size fits perfectly and it's protective, even though you still can feel really heavy strikes but it is not hurting you. Absolutely satisfied with this kote

I'm using these kotes for a few months now and I really enjoy them.
This is the first time I'm training with real deer leather kotes and it fells amazing! Also they are really lightweight, yet strong. They have this reinforcement on the right hand so that you don't feel pain while receiving strikes, and that's also great. I can receive strikes from shoshinshas and also from senseis, and go on and on the whole training session without any pain.
I'm really liking them and I highly recommend it.

After ten months of use, I can say that these are some of the best kote I've ever had. I don't think in the "under 250€ category" there are any better ones available anywhere. Top materials, great protection, good mobility and a very dignified look. I would buy them again.

Ordered by one of our members. First pair we ordered turned out too small. One quick phonecall later the kote could be returned and a new, larger, pair was sent. These now fit perfectly and our member has been very happy with them.
