A pair of Clarino (synthetic leather) replacement Kote palms.

A popular option to keep costs down, Clarino palms are the hardest wearing Kote palm material, normally outperforming natural leather in the longevity stakes.  The are however the least flexible Tenouchigawa option and will stretch the least, meaning that they will not soften and mould to the shape of your hand in the same way as deer leather.

Kote Tenouchigawa (palm leather) are one of the most heavily worn parts of any Bogu set due to regular saturation of sweat from the hands and the continual friction of damp leather palms against the leather of the Shinai grip (Tsukagawa).

Synthetic leather Tenouchi-gawa (also known as Tenouchikawa) are fast drying options which are more resistant to friction damage, and which are not as susceptible to damage due to forced drying than natural leather options, and at a significantly lower cost.

If your palms have worn thin or have developed a hole, palm replacement might be the perfect solution to breath some life back into your Kote.

You can check out how to change your Kote in this video tutorial.
